Identifying Among People around Us

“Do not judge the book by its cover” are you similar with that sentence? Do you agree with that? Have you ever judged a person by looking his/her cover before recognizing his/her personality? Judging a person by his cover could not be accepted by anyone.

            Prejudice, stereotype, and discrimination are some aspects usually used to judge someone. People could generalize someone’s personality Because of different culture, religion, skin color, etc. Every people in the world has different character and personality, some people might not be able to live with people who have different background. They usually feel more comfortable with people who have same background and it is happened in our country.

            Indonesia has many cultures which are very unique. Some people have some stereotype belong to their cultures because of that uniqueness. For example, some people assume that Bataknese people are rude but in fact not all Bataknese people are rude, aren’t they? I have some friends. They are Bataknese and they are very kind and polite but they talks faster than Javanese.

            I am Javanese and I proud of my culture. I was born in Madiun but I live in Jakarta but I know some tradition in Javanese and I could speak Javanese fluently.  When I introduced my self, Some people did not believe that I am Javanese but they thought that I am Betawinese because the way I talk likes Betawinese. My accent likes Betawinese because since I was a year, I lived in Jakarta.

            According of my experience, I realize that stereotype of something is not really real if there is not a strong reason about that. Sometimes it would be right but more often it was wrong. Like in my other experience, I have a Betawinese. As you might know that some of Betawinese are talkative and sometimes talk rudely but my friend is not like that. My friend is a silent person and does not like talk rudely

               Another case, I have a friend in my campus, she is Sundanese. Some people argue that Sundanese girls are money oriented but my friend is not money oriented. It was so natural if everyone needs money but if we spend much money just for inappropriate things, which is an “amazing” problem.

            In my conclusion, do not ever identify someone by looking one or two perspective, but you have to see in other perspective. It would be so hard because judging someone is so easy and some people thought that what they saw is right. In fact, not all what you saw is right. It could be also a big mistake. You have to take care of your mind and try to open your mind.

Using Technology in Speaking Class

 I am going to share about some information about technology which could be used in speaking class. I got this information from my topic in Technology language and learning.

            When we want to teach speaking, we sometimes confused to find a technology which could develop speaking skill for students. Unfortunately, I got this lesson from my lecture. We discus about some website in internet that could help speaking skill.

            My lecture gave us some website. These are the example:

            You could visit those websites. Actually there are many websites which could develop speaking skill but I just write some websites and you could find others websites in Google.

            Those websites could not only develop speaking skill but many of them could also develop listening, writing, and reading skill. Technology is one of tools to support learning process. As language teacher to be, I thought it was so useful and needed to help language learning.

            After you know about some websites, are they really useful for learning?

Pedagogy vs Technology

Are you confused to determine which one comes first between pedagogy and technology? Just flash back to long time ago which was technology nothing. Was pedagogy also nothing? Pedagogy is study of teaching and it was born first before technology is so madly developing like today.

Nowadays technology is part of our life, isn’t it? And some people thought that they could not live without technology around them. It is so frustrated if we think about that but don’t worry because technology is not going to lose from our hands.

Now, what do you think? Which one comes first? Pedagogy or technology?

I am brave to say “Pedagogy comes first” because like what I was talking before that pedagogy has been developing before technology was born. In other way, the creativity to create the technology comes from the pedagogy it’s self. In pedagogy, there are learning theories, pedagogical approach, etc. Technology just supports teaching-learning process. Do you agree for that?

Computer interactivity and pedagogical interactivity

Between those things, what do you have in mind?

In my mind, those are two different things that could make me confused. After I joined this class, I am not really confused anymore. Because we talked very clear about it. As we know that computer is such as a cool technology because it could know everything, but do you know that the knowledge which computer does not have as rich as human have. The computer just provides pre-determined feedback. The computer is an assistant of pedagogy. The computer is one of the great technologies which could support language learning.

Technology and Language Learning Part 2

Technology is developing very fast.   Every second the world creates new technologies. Now days developing technology could not be handled. Last week, teachers candidate discuss about digital immigrants and digital natives.

I do not want to talk a lot about that I just give brief explanation about that. Digital immigrants are  people who was born when technology was not developed madly like today. Digital natives are people who was born when technology is developing very fast.

We are digital natives who  are mad of technology, have to be creative and filtered them because technology also have some weaknesses.  In education field, Many technology  could  support teaching-learning process specially in language learning. As candidates of teacher,  we have to use and choose  the right technology to help teaching-learning process.

Last meeting, we also discuss about digital technology, like google, skype, facebook, twiter, blog ,etc. There are many advantages from those to support learning in the school. I take an example, like google, as we know we can find and do everything in google. Google is a great search engine, in google, there are many facilitates to support students like google book, google translate, google cendekia, etc.

After knowing those things, I realize that I live in crazy world and sometimes I got headache thinking about it. Ok bloger, it is the end of my post, hopefully you could enjoy this post. See you next post.

The Meaning Of My Name

            My name is Reza asnelly zam. My mother told me that is an amazing name because my name is sounded great. My first name is Reza, it was given by my father, my mother told me that Reza is rise, so I could be a good girl that is needed by many people. The second name is Asnelly, actually it has simple meaning, because I was born in July so my mother chose name which has same syllable, July and Nelly. My last name is zam because when my mother was pregnant, she often drinks zam-zam water. That was so nice, wasn’t it?

            From my name, my mother wants me become a great and bright girl who was born in July that could always help people around me. That is an amazing name for me because it has strong meaning that really reflect my personality. I am happy and proud of my name because I am the one who has this unique name.

                        When I was in kindergarten, my nickname is Nelly. There,  I had a lady teacher and she was an unlucky teacher because she Blaine my name and change my name become “nenek lincah”. I was so mad of her and I always cry when I went home. Because of that, so my mother change my nickname become Reza and now everybody calls me Reza.

Some people when heard my name, they thought that I am a boy because my first name is Reza. Reza is usually used for boy’s name. I am mad of this and I have a crazy story about this. Once upon time, when I was 17. My father wanted to make me my identity card,  and we came to the government together. When my identity card finished, I was too surprised because in my identity card was written my gender was male. That was one of the embarrassing experience.

            Even I had that experience but I do not want to change my name because I love my name and many people like my name. My beautiful name has a good meaning and I want to be as great as my name.

Humanistic studies 1, part 1

             Last meeting I did not join in this class. Actually I did not know about this lesson exactly but when I heard a word “humanistic” I have something in my mind. Humanistic is about human, culture, religion and all which related to human. It will be an important lesson because as a teacher candidate, I have to know and understand about the personalize of our student. It really help me when I find some “special” student in my future.  Knowing and understanding the personalize of people and how to handle them are my expectations in this lesson.

            I have some experiences handling some “special” people. Unfortunately I always find those “special” people in my life. I felt uncomfortable and disturbed when I closed with those people. My treatments to handle them are different based on their personality, so before handling them I try to recognize  them.

            Those “special” people sometimes do not realize that they are so disturbing and awful. They just stay with their own perspective and they never accept advices from other people. They always think that they are the only the right people among others. Actually I want to help them to change their personalize and perspective, but it is kind of hard things to be reached.

            I will tell something about my friend. I have a friend. He had ever become my classmate. Firstly I think that he is great but the fact he is very awful. One day when I got an assignment from my teacher and it had to be worked in group and “fortunately” he is one of member of my group which consist of 4 people. I was very happy in this group and I thought they could be the great partners.

            The first meeting,  he came and we discuss about our assignment, but in the middle of discussion, he became the only person who talked and never gave other member to speak and accept our opinion. Finally the first meeting, there was not result.

The second meeting, he did not come and we decided to make a deal with our result. The third meeting, he did not come again and we just refused him and did not care with him. The forth meeting, again and again he did not come and he said that he was going to beach with his friends. That was so amazing reason.

            The final meeting, he also did not come until the assignment was done and my teacher came into the class. During the presentation, he did not talk a lot because he never know about our result. My teacher knew that he is the one who never  discuss with his group and he got less point than others. 

             Every people have variety of personalize, culture, religion, habits, etc. Sometimes those things are good and also bad. Actually every people could control and filter all of those things but some people are so naïve and do not want to do it.
